Renovations Underway

Here we are again, wondering why it's been SO long since I've posted any new artwork. But this time It's an even better reason than last time.. Honest!

I've recently purchased a new home (My first one actually), and in order to get it to look exactly how me and my lovely fiancee would like it to look, there's much that needs to be done. To give you an idea, here's a list of what we've done, and what still needs to be done.

Done

  • Sealed at least 200 holes in the walls (we could build a new house with all the screws and nails we found)
  • Removed all the kitchen counter-tops and cabinets at ground-level
  • Got rid of the stove
  • Took out the kitchen sub-flooring since it was insanely warped, replaced it with new sub-flooring
  • Primed all of the walls
  • Painted all but one of the rooms
  • Removed several ceiling lights (because they were hideous), replaced them with newer and nicer lights
  • Valiantly fought against a bees nest, and succeeded.
  • Replaced the thermostat, since the old one was less useful than a 2-ounce rock.
Needs Done
  • Tear up all the old flooring and replace with newer and better flooring (entire home)
  • Replace the Windows
  • Install new kitchen counter, sink, cabinets, and stove
  • Replace Sink in Master Bathroom
  • Remove rubber mulch from outer patio/playground/whatever-the-heck-it-is to expand yard
  • Fix certain areas of the ceiling where it seems to be brittle
  • Any other surprises that we may encounter
So there you have it! I would, however, still be attempting to create new artwork even with all that is going on, but I don't have any proper desk as of now. But soon enough I'll be posting new artwork again. Just stick with me! :)

As always, if you haven't visited it already, my website is DezigningArt.com. Check it out to see all of my current (and not so current) work on the gallery tab.

Pigma Microns, And A New Drawing

So, I finally decided to purchase some new drawing utensils! And thanks to my absolutely wonderful Fiancee who gave me a gift card to out local art store (The Ink Well), I was motivated to purchase my new Pigma Micron Pens. I bought 5 of them. Two are size 005, and then one of sizes 01, 03, and 05. I also purchased  some tracing paper, which allows me to simply re-draw my artwork if I ever seem to be inspired when the camera isn't rolling.

Also, my "camera" is actually my phone right now, and sometimes it decides to just do whatever it likes. Thus, the next item on my shopping list is a decent camera, as well as a hinged arm to hold it and direct it to wherever I need it. My current "camera" has given me a lot of trouble as of late, so I'm hoping to have a new one by the end of next month. Crossing my fingers.

I did, however, manage to create a new abstract drawing. Sadly, I had to draw it twice, due to technical difficulties with my "camera", which corrupted the original video file. BUT, I drew it again, thanks to my new tracing paper. For whatever reason, it won't allow me to embed the video into this post, but you can still go see it on YouTube. Or if you're the type that just likes to see the completed artwork without all that long hard work in between, here's a photo of it.

Abstract Drawing #3

Now, don't forget to visit my website (DezigningArt.com) if you haven't already. There's a bunch of interesting drawings I've made in the past. Thanks for reading! And have a splendid day ;D

Bumblebee Drawing

Finally completed my latest drawing of the 2009 Chevy Camaro. It's not only posted onto my website at DezigningArt.com, but the time lapse video of me creating it is also posted up on YouTube. I have it posted here if you'd like to watch it.

I used several different types of pencils to create this, including 2h, hb, 2b, and 4b, an eraser pen, and a kneaded eraser. I've already started on my next drawing, but it may take some time since I'm moving into a new home in a couple days. But It'll get posted eventually ;)

Making progress

I BOUGHT A PLANNER!!

Ok, so maybe I shouldn't be quite as excited as I am, but who cares. I used to write down a list of things to do throughout each day, and my productivity during that period what phenomenal. Since I seem to be lacking in any form of productivity lately, I decided to purchase a planner and start up my good old habit of keeping a schedule.
I like highlighters, what can I say.

So far, so good. But it's only been one day. The planner was absurdly expensive in my opinion, but it's a price I'm willing to pay for progress. I'm hoping that the money spent on it motivates me to continue following through everything I lay out for my day (getting up at a reasonable time instead of 10 a.m. every morning).

My only critique regarding the planner is the fact that I could only find one that goes as late at 9 pm. I mean common, who's night EVER ends at 9 p.m.? But that's alright, I usually work until 10 or 11 anyways.

I'm sure you're all wondering why this post is completely unrelated to my artwork in any way, shape, or form. BUT, it IS related. based on my increased productivity today, I'm hoping to release drawings more often, and hopefully soon. I continued working on a rather old drawing I haven't finished yet. And if you click that link, you'll see just how old it really is. But honestly, it's almost done.

Thanks for reading! And if you're interested in getting a planner, I highly recommend the At-A-Glance Academic planner. Seriously, it's awesome. I purchased mine from Staples, but it's quite a bit more expensive in stores.

Expecting Delays

Many of you may be wondering why It's been so long since I've posted any new drawings. Sadly, I've been overwhelmingly busy as of late, and haven't had much time to work on anything. I haven't even been home for the past several days, so bear with me.

In the very little spare time I have, I've been using it to rest. Work has been exhausting, and It's had me running around crazy about eight hours a day.

But have no fear! The end is not near. I just need some time to get everything all settled down again so I can start up my good drawing habits again. Until then, Super stickman should be sufficient to keep you safe. ;)

Although there's nothing really new lately, if you haven't seen it already, check out DezigningArt.com to see all of my current (and much older) artwork.

Abstract Time Lapse Drawing 2

I've posted a new time lapse drawing on YouTube. I was going to post it on the blog so you could see it, but for whatever reason, I'm experiencing some technical difficulties. So if you follow the link below, it will take you directly to YouTube to watch the video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzfm3B9dXGk

If you like it, make sure you share it and subscribe!

Due to Blogger constantly accusing my accounts of being spam, regardless of the fact that I only make a new post every week or less, I'll go ahead and provide 3 random facts about myself.

#1 - I'm engaged to an absolutely beautiful woman, and we're getting married in less than a year.

#2 - I've been drawing ever since I was little, but during college I stopped almost completely. I only recently began drawing again, and I'm not planning on stopping anytime soon.

#3 - I'm a pretty big Star Wars fan. I've watched all the movies, and have even read a couple of the books.

So there you have it! Thanks for sticking around to read those random facts, and I hope you enjoyed the video!

Flower Sketch

Flower Sketch
This sketch was made a couple days ago for my fiancee when I visited her at work. She was a bit too busy to talk, so I decided to wait at one of the tables and doodle until she was available (which wasn't until she closed, but I waited patiently).

The silly part about it is what I used as a reference. I had brought her a gift since I had known her day wasn't going too well, and kept it in a bag with some decorative flowers on it. Since she couldn't accept it right when I got there, it was sitting in front of me for quite some time. What better way to spend my time than to draw something for the woman I'm going to marry? And voila, a sketch of a flower.

It's not an extraordinarily detailed sketch, but I always enjoy making sketches. I'll be posting the sketch up on the Dezigning Art Doodle of the Day page within the next few days, so keep an eye out.

Inside look: Bumblebee

This is the outline of my latest work. It may not look like much now, but i'm starting to realize that the magic of drawing comes after it's been shaded. So hopefully by the time it's finished, it will look much better. (Emphasis on hopefully). And no, this isn't the transformer, it's the car version. Sorry to get your hopes up.
This is the only place I'll be posting this drawing for the time being, so feel special! ;D

Oh, and don't forget to check out DezigningArt.com to see all of my current and previously made artwork!

Types Of Pencils

First test video on my new YouTube channel. Hoping to have a speed drawing video up by July!

Invisible Art

You probably read the title of this thinking "what? Invisible art? Doesn't that defeat the purpose?". On the contrary!

There is no way for one to determine if someone's artwork is "good" or "bad" simply by looking at it, because it's meant to look that way. If it wasn't, the artist wouldn't have displayed it. An art exhibition displaying "invisible art" has taken this concept to a whole new level. The idea, is that artwork can literally be anything. The only limitation is the artists imagination, so why limit it to the viewers?

The invisible art exhibition displayed 50 "invisible" works which allowed the viewers to see whatever it is they wished to see. I suppose this makes me feel a little better as a growing artist. I have an excuse for my mediocre artwork ;).
